HELPING MONKEY
Put love into action
We are a passionate group of individuals who came together with a shared mission: to make NYC’s Asian community a better place to live by utilizing our collective skills and resources. It all started with four general contractors who, through their work, saw the need for giving back. Calling ourselves the “Helping Monkeys,” we began by patching up homes and churches for free when the owners couldn’t afford the repairs.
But we didn’t stop there.
One of the original members, Jason—a fine arts major in college—took the initiative to offer free art classes to children at a nearby church every Saturday. His efforts quickly grew into something bigger, with the local community rallying around us, even providing free lunches for the kids through the support of a local supermarket and businesses.
Today, under the banner of the Helping Monkey Community Project, we offer a wide range of community-based educational and recreational programs. From fine arts and academic help to dance and culture, we aim to nurture the talents of our children, providing them with enriching activities while also supporting their hard-working parents who may struggle with the cost of childcare. Our goal is to help kids discover their passions, keep them engaged, and, most importantly, give them a safe space to grow—keeping them off the streets and giving parents peace of mind.
